Hello Fit Fam,     It's me! Liz! I am here to showcase my business...NewLizFitness! I am diving into this venture head first with the hopes to bring fitness to anyone that needs it! I want to help you Find Your Fit!       I have revamped my website ( www.newlizfitness.com ). I am staying current in my research and obtaining new certifications so that my knowledge and expertise are top-notch. And I am creating resources to ensure if you put in the work then the results will come!     I have always had a passion for exercise but I never thought this could ultimately become a career path! I have worked in many settings all focused on fitness, health, and wellness; but it wasn't until I was granted the chance to stay at home with my daughter that I realized I wanted to start my own personal training business for me. I love helping people get fit (keep in mind fit can mean a lot of different things to different people). I wanted the chance to do ...

Body Positivity

Image
Hello Fit Fam,     Today's post has been a topic I have steered away from due to sensitivity or how it can often be received in the fitness industry. I want to dive into the world of body positivity. I have been thinking a lot about this topic since deciding to start my online personal training business. I have always been into fitness, physical performance, sports, and exercise. When I was young I started playing sports which grew into a passion for the weight room and then became an interest in how the human body works in college which finally led to my career path of personal training. The images I saw from the beginning of my sports days, college academics, and working in many fitness facilities led me to believe that physically fit people looked a certain way; skinny/slim, muscular, a certain clothing size, and absolutely not flabby skin anywhere! I believed this bias for many years and often found myself judging others who did not fit the mold. Needless to say, I h...

Staying On Track For the Holidays

Image
Hello Fit Fam,      We all find ourselves wanting to start again after the holidays. We get caught up in family time, travel, and letting loose a little. It doesn't mean we aren't still focused on our goals, it just means we have gotten distracted. Holidays are a time to celebrate and we shouldn't avoid that or feel miserable during a joyful time, we just have to find a way to make our goals and the "guilty pleasures" of the holidays work together! We need to make them fit!     So as you recover from Thanksgiving and move into the slew of Christmas, Hanukkah,  Kwanza, New Year, and any others I might be forgetting: Make a plan! How are you going to stick with your goals (workouts, nutrition, sleep, etc.) while still enjoying yourself? It isn't always easy and sometimes we have to make compromises with ourselves. For example; if you know you are going to a holiday party make sure to plan your day's nutrition. I have three main tips for surviving the ho...

It Takes a Village

Image
Hello Fit Fam,     Have you ever looked at those "super parents" out on social media or at your local school, church, grocery store, or neighborhood? They are the one that seems to have everything together and never needs help and in fact they even helps other out more often than not. They are the ones who come prepared, stay prepared and can predict when things are going to go wrong. It also feels like they  do it all themselves. Well I have two theories! Either they are actual super heroes or what I actually think is happening is they have a village!     We have all heard the phrase "it takes a village" to raise children and I could not agree more! Speaking from my very limited experience over the last year and a half, I had a village and I could not have done it without them! From my husband, to my immediate family to in laws to friends, they have all contributed in so many ways. I have accomplished more than I thought was possibly because of the unconditiona...

75 Medium

Image
3 days ago I decided to start the 75 Medium challenge. It is essentially the 75 Hard Challenge minus the fact that I am giving myself a little bit of room for error, hence the Medium instead of the Hard! I listened to the podcast and thought wow this program is super cool! I also thought: this is impossible, this is stupid, who would do this, why would anyone want to do this, and many other thoughts that lead me to my decision to start the 75 Medium Challenge. I have been a stay at home mom for roughly 6 months now and I found myself lost. Lost in my new routine, or lack there of one. Lost in what my goals are. Lost in what I want out of life. Don't get me wrong I am living an amazing life and I am so happy with what I have. I am grateful and excited about all the amazing things going on for me right now, but I still felt lost. I think being a stay at home mom is a blessing and is allowing me the time and freedom and challenge to figure out what comes next for me. This is not to sa...

Make a Routine

Image
Hello Fit Fam, Today I am talking to you about routines. I speak from experience when I say routines make or break your day! I am a recently new stay at home mom who is trying to start up her online personal training business. I have a 9 month old baby girl, who is amazing but also a handful! My days are never the same but I am committed to setting and making a routine that inevitably will have to be modified and adapted as I go! I read a quote the other day that said:  "Things change. The only thing constant is change. It's up to you to be adaptable." I am embracing this quote hard core right not. I feel as though my whole life has changed in many ways I never saw coming. Within the last year I went from a 9am-6pm Monday-Friday job to quitting and being a stay at home mom, thank you to the Great Resignation! I also went from not having a baby to having a baby, thank you Logan! And lastly my husband and I went from being homeowners to selling our house and living with my ...
